Dog Training With Deadly Parasites

September 23, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

We as dog owners need to be aware of the deadly parasites that walk our earth. Our dogs stand a chance of being introduced to more of them than we may know. Even though most stages of problems to external parasites are only minor, they still need to be looked into. Dogs that hold a large infestation can sometimes bit and scratch parts of their bodies. Corresponding with that, usually dogs that bite themselves harm their own body in someway.

The myth that dog fleas do not bite humans is very much false. This is a scary thought, but it is in fact entirely true. They do prefer the company of dogs more, but that does not stop them from what they do. Most families ignore dog fleas and it is a serious problem of infestation. Taking care of fleas is very simple and usually cost productive.

The most common parasite that gets into the canine body is roundworms. The name roundworms gives a good explanation as to what they actually are. Roundworms pass from dog to dog through touching of the saliva and noses and such, but can also be passed from simply being in the dirt for an amount of time before they die.

The main parasite that sticks to the outside of the canine skin is called the tick. This is a common fear of humans due to their very ugly spider like appearance. The tick is not really the dangerous part, but what the tick spreads is. What they do is jump from dog to dog sucking the different blood types of the canine and mixing them at times. As you can imagine, the mixing of blood is always dangerous with disease.

Figuring out pet dog training is easy and learning what is not safe for them is needed. The Dog Training Database is a base of dog training sources that can basically teach you everything anyone needs to know about dog training.

Understanding the Teacup Golden Retriever

September 22, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

A doggie in a cup! Sounds cute, isn’t it? It would be, as if your little stuffed-toy pup came to life. A teeny-weeny golden retriever, that could fit in your hand…………exciting hmm? But hold on. Golden retrievers are dogs; live, energetic, intelligent, loving, full-bodied living creatures, right? They are supposed to be man’s companion and not mere ‘moving and breathing toys’.

Golden Retriever is a breed known for its majestic looks along with an extremely pleasing demeanour. Trying to fit it into a teacup is not only cruel but also derogatory. If you love Golden Retriever – the breed, love it as it comes – the medium-large dog. And if it is the size that attracts you, then go for a toy dog breed, e.g. Chihuahua.

Moreover, there is nothing like a teacup Golden Retriever. Some breeds have been specially bred to reduce their size, over the generations. But there is no special small-sized Golden breed.

Talking about the term ‘teacup’, it can be defined as ‘slang’ in the group of dog terms. There is nothing like a ‘teacup’ breed. It is a term popularly used to describe a very small toy dog or pup that is small enough to fit in a teacup. No major kennel clubs approve of this term. Irresponsible, profit oriented breeders, or back-yard breeders as they are called, use this term to market small pups/dogs in order to make them sound special; so that they can fetch high (often exorbitant) prices.

Clothing for Dogs

September 20, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

When you have a doggy friend you like to take care of it properly. It needs a warm place to sleep, good quality food, plenty of exercise and a strong collar to clip that lead to when you are out walking. When people see dogs with good dog collars they know they are not a strays but belong to people who care for them.

Dog collars can be practical such as for attaching leads to when walking your dog and for identification, but they can also just be for fun. You can have several different collars for your special pal just for fun – or to colour-coordinate with your own outfits. But many dogs need more than just a collar.

Short-haired breeds tend to get cold outside in the winter weather, especially if they spend most of their days inside a warm apartment. Being indoors, their coats do not develop that thick under layer that keeps an outdoor dog warm in winter. Dog Coats and dog jackets will be needed to keep indoor dogs warm.

Effective Dog Training for Obedience

September 18, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

Dog training for obedience is a continuous process. Dog obedience training for obedience is basically a program that requires active involvement of both the owner and the dog. The whole dog training teaches them how to communicate with each other effectively. In case you do not know, dog training for obedience is vital to building a strong and close relationship with your dog. To achieve that, house training your dog is the most effective and quickest way to accelerate the dog training for obedience of your dog.

Proper dog training for obedience is built on the principle of proper and strict reinforcement of discipline. Dogs are naturally social creatures and are able to live in packs. But dog obedience training is effective and easier for you if you know what you are doing. Otherwise, a lot of times, your dog training efforts become futile and counter-productive.

At times, you will realize that training your dog is more about training yourself the owner. Dog Training: Common House Training Problems

September 17, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

In terms of dog training, house training is one of the areas of dog ownership and one of the most common dog training problems that is most subject to misunderstanding, confusion, and just plain dread boy dog owners and even dog training experts.

In today’s dog training article we are going to examine and learn how to deal with two of the most common problems surrounding the issue of house training your dog:

– Submissive and excited urination

– Scent marking behavior

Common house training problem #1: Submissive and excited urination

What is it a ‘submissive urinator’?

A ‘submissive urinator’, in dog training terms, is a dog that urinates on the floor and himself (and sometimes on you or any guests you may have!) in situations of extreme excitement or stress, like when you return home at the end of the work day or when the dog is being told off for some bad behavior.

Why does this happen?

Puppies are the most usual candidates for submissive/excited urination, but it is also not uncommon to see this behavior in adult dogs as well. Usually, these are highly sensitive and timid dogs, and/or ones from a shelter/with a history of abuse (often these last two go hand-in-hand and one of most common things we see as dog training professionals.)

When does it happen?

Situations which are likely to trigger an excited/fearful dog to urinate:

– Greeting time after a prolonged absence of owner

– Play time where a dog gets too excited

– The arrival of guests (particularly unknown guests)

– Stressful situations at home, eg arguments involving owner

– During a behavior correction such as you’re telling him off

– Sudden and unexpected loud noises such as thunder or fireworks

What can I do about it?

Luckily as dog training experts will tell you, it is not difficult to prevent your dog from doing his submissive or excited urination.

Firstly and most importantly, you should take him to the vet to make sure there is no unknown medical reason for the issue (such as diabetes or a hidden bladder infection.)

Next, it’s time to take use good dog training techniques to control the problem:

– Try to limit his intake of water to help him control his bladder more effectively, this is very important. Don’t restrict his water intake over a prolonged period of time, but if you know there is a situation coming which would normally result in a loss of bladder control, for example, you have guests coming over, or are planning on a play session soon, take his water bowl away for a period of time (maybe half an hour to an hour) before the event.
